Claude Code as a daily driver

Living in the terminal with an agentic coding assistant — my setup, guardrails, and what it is great (and bad) at.

A developer typing on a mechanical keyboard at a minimalist desk setup with a large ultrawide monitor displaying a terminal interface and IDE with code.

For the last few months my primary coding interface has been an agent in the terminal rather than an editor with autocomplete. Here is how that actually plays out across a real week.

It is excellent at multi-file refactors, writing tests, and exploring an unfamiliar codebase. It is weaker when the task is under-specified, so I have learned to front-load context and review every diff before committing.
